| Micro Hole Drilling When it comes to micro hole drilling, it is critical to have a total understanding of how lasers perform and how they interact with the target material. We have designed features into our laser specifically for micro hole drilling. These design features give us complete control of the laser's performance characteristics. We have also developed techniques in our micro hole drilling that deliver extremely consistent hole diameters and depths. We are able to eliminate raised edges typical when drilling soft, low, temperature plastics. This, coupled with 25 years of experience processing all kinds of materials, gives us the ability to produce results such as that shown below on the right. The material was Nylon (Pbax). The Micro Hole Drilling application required is we drill four .006" dia. holes through a .003" wall and not damage the far wall .005" away. The end product was a catheter that had 4 lumens in it. We built a Micro Hole Drilling machine that located the lumens, drilled the holes and indexed the part out to an operator. The Micro Hole Drilling machine output was 20% above our customer's requirements.
